7 Telltale Signs Your Social Media Efforts Are About to FLATLINE (Yikes!!)
1. All you do is promote yourself and your brand
Nothing illustrates the principle of give and take quite like social media.
If all you do is promote yourself (and you never give back) -- chances are -- it's not working well for you.
Take time to find high quality content (from others in your niche) that you can share on your social channels.
Be a real part of the community and CONTRIBUTE -- instead of just broadcasting your own message.
Like @AnnTran_ says, on social media it's important to give first and receive second.
People will notice if you only promote yourself -- and they will soon start to ignore your content.
2. You haven't looked at your analytics (and you don't even know where to find them)
This one goes back to having no social media strategy -- which we've talked about many times here on Post Planner.
If you haven't looked at your social media analytics, how can you gauge your progress?
How will you know what's working and what isn't?
Every time you examine your analytics -- it's like getting a status report on the health of your social media.
You can avoid flatlining if you check your analytics often (and make the necessary tweaks).

3. Social media is an afterthought (and you only get to it when you have time)
If social media is only an afterthought to you -- that's a pretty good sign that things are going south FAST!
Social media takes time, dedication, commitment and perseverance.
If you don't have a strategy for your business pages -- and you only update the content when you happen to think about it -- the train has already fallen off the tracks.
Instead, set yourself up for success. Create a strategy. Make a plan.
Set some goals and attack them like a pit bull (don't let go).
If social media isn't your thing - hire someone to handle your business accounts so you know they are being properly nurtured.
Remember -- it's very important to respond to feedback from your customers and clients.
Facebook has decided that responding to feedback is so important that they are now offering a badge for business pages that respond to 90% of messages within 5 minutes.

4. You've been at it for a while, but you still have no relevant engagement
It takes 2 to tango -- or in this case -- it takes 2 to engage.
If you want people to engage with you, you have to engage with them.
And sometimes -- you have to be first.
I challenge you to reach out to 10 relevant people on social media every day for the next 7 days.
That may sound like a lofty goal -- but I promise you -- if you take the challenge -- your engagement WILL increase.
Once you get some good engagement momentum going, keep it up!
5. You are not positioning yourself as a leader in your industry
If you want to become magnetic on social media -- you have to move people.
One way to move people is to solve their problems.
Anticipate their needs. Understand inside and out what they are facing each day.
Offer solutions that make their lives easier. Be empathetic.
In other words -- get in front of the pack and lead the way.
Change this right away and you'll start seeing results almost instantly.
6. You are not making your posts visually appealing
I can't stress to you how important it is to make your social media posts visually appealing.
I have seen people go from zero to hero by just changing this one thing.
Like @AskAaronLee pointed out in How to Drive a FRIGGIN TON of Traffic with Facebook -- visuals play a HUGE role in grabbing attention.

7. You aren't open and honest
If your social media is about to flatline -- it could be because you aren't showing people that you're real.
On your personal accounts, use your real name. Show people you're a human being. Be genuine.
On your business accounts, be sure to complete your entire profile and include a link to your site.
Again -- show people you are making an effort to be authentic.
People on social media are smart. They know when someone is a poser.
Don't be that person who everyone ignores -- or worse yet -- don't be the person who everyone thinks is a bot!
This is a great example of what NOT to do.
Is this a bot? One thing is for sure -- this strategy does not work.
Conclusion
I have some really good news for you!
